LOCAL BANDS INVITED TO PARTICIPATE AT THE 2005 DELAWARE STATE FAIR

HARRINGTON, DE - June 9, 2005
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Last year, the Delaware State Fair began a new tradition…“Home Grown N’ Hand Picked”…a free concert series offered each Friday and Saturday of the Fair, featuring 16 local bands. Due to the success of the concert series, the Delaware State Fair, in conjunction with Key of DE magazine and June Jam, will once again invite local bands to submit promotional packages for consideration. Of the local bands who submit promotional packages, 16 will be “hand picked” to participate.
Due to the overwhelming varieties of submissions last year, the Fair will offer a day for several specific genres of music, including: July 22, Country; July 23, Rock; July 29, R&B; and July 30, Bluegrass/Folk.
According to the Public Relations and Marketing Director for the Delaware State Fair, Tricia Southard, “Each year we strive to offer something new. While thinking outside-the-box, we realized the fair already showcases local talent in areas such as livestock, produce, and fine arts … why not extend the showcase to the stage and allow the art of local musicians to exhibit as well? Playing at the fair is such a great opportunity for local acts to perform before a broad audience. Moreover, for the bands who participate, they’ll have the benefit of saying they played at the Delaware State Fair as they promote themselves in the local, regional, and national markets.” Immediately after playing their set, participating acts will be given an opportunity to distribute pre-approved literature and photos, sign autographs, and sell merchandise promoting their band (i.e. CDs and tee shirts).
Key of DE magazine and June Jam are pleased the Fair is continuing to allow local bands, signed and unsigned, to play a part at the Fair. Jim Foster of Key of De Magazine adds, “We look forward to the unique opportunity, that The Delaware State Fair is providing, to help expose all musicians to a large audience. We encourage all bands to take advantage of what the Home Grown N’ Hand Picked concert series offers—a chance to be heard by a lot of people and maybe gain a few more fans.”
To learn how your band may be considered for participation, please contact Jim Foster of Key of DE magazine at destatefair@keyofde.com or submit a promotional package to Matt Boller, 4008-B South DuPont Hwy., Dover, DE 19901.
