DELAWARE STATE FAIR ANNOUNCES 2008 ALL STAR LINE-UP

The 89th Annual Delaware State Fair will showcase a true All Star Line-up when the Fair opens its doors July 17th –26th, 2008.
“Each year, fair officials work extremely hard to book a variety of acts that will promise to leave each person with a great concert experience,” says Danny Aguilar, the Delaware State Fair’s Assistant General Manager and Director of Marketing. Aguilar added, “Staff and talent agents strive to deliver the biggest names in entertainment, and this year is no exception.”
This year the Fair has unveiled a new online ticket vendor, promising to make online ticket purchases more convenient. “Through the online purchasing process, customers will have the ability to purchase and print their tickets instantly,” says Aguilar. Online ticket sales will begin May 14th at 10:00 am, and will be staged over three days. The Fair wants to remind anyone buying Wilmington Trust Grandstand concert tickets must also purchase a gate admission pass to enter the fairgrounds. Tickets will also be available for discounted advance gate admission and discounted carnival ride tickets.
When asked, Aguilar indicated ticket sales via mail orders would be available May 21st, and walk-ups would be available beginning June 2nd, after online sales begin; however, he stressed the best access is via the internet. "We've found most people have access to a computer and the internet either at home, at work or at their local public library. By purchasing tickets online, we're able to provide instant feedback as to the section seats available and whether or not our customers’ purchases were accepted. The fair’s staff has spent several moths interviewing online ticket vendors and feel it has selected one of the best in the industry. Our desire is to make the online ticket buying experience a positive experience for all. ETIX has handled several major ticketing projects such as the 2007 OZZFEST and most recently concerts for the Dave Matthews Band."
2008 CONCERT SERIES:
The Delaware State Fair opens Thursday, July 17 with a "Half Price Night". Visitors can take advantage of the half price gate admission and experience the Fair first hand.
Manlove Auto Part’s Demolition Derby kicks off opening night at the Wilmington Trust Grandstand with a second Demolition Derby being presented Saturday, July 25th. Start time for both shows are 7:00 pm, and ticket prices range from $10 & $12.
Saturday, July 19th the Fair will rock with the sounds of three headlining rock bands 3 Doors Down, Staind & Hinder. Showtime for this concert is at 7:30 pm with ticket prices ranging from $48 - $58.
Engines will roar again on Sunday, July 20th when KSR Motorsports’ Monster Truck Show comes to the Grandstand, presented locally by Grotto Pizza. A Monster Pit party will take place at 6:00 pm with the show starting at 7:00 pm. Ticket prices for children are $10, and adults range from $15 - $21.
On Monday, July 21st the Delaware Lottery presents one of the hottest country acts in the country, and a 2007 sell out show, Carrie Underwood with special guest Lady Antebellum – welcomed by 94.7 WDSD. Showtime is 8:00 pm and ticket prices range from $55 - $57.
Tuesday, July 22nd will showcase one of the top bands on the charts today, Daughtry, featuring American Idol finalist Chris Daughtry – welcomed by WSTW and Eagle 97-7. Showtime is 8:00 pm and ticket prices range from $44 - $48.
Wednesday, July 23rd features a finalist from The Celebrity Apprentice, and country super star Trace Adkins with special guest Bucky Covington – welcomed by WXCY. Showtime is 8:00 pm and ticket prices range from $25 - $30.
Thursday, July 24th one of the most recognized names in country music, Martina McBride graces the Wilmington Trust Grandstand stage with special guest Chris Young – welcomed by CAT country. Showtime is 8:00 pm and ticket prices range from $44 - $48.
The Delaware State Fair will close its concert series on Saturday, July 26th when T-Mobile Sidekick presents two amazing Tony Hawks’ Boom Boom HuckJam shows. Showtimes are 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm with all tickets priced at $20.
Wilmington Trust Company will present fireworks on July 19th, 24th and 26th immediately after each grandstand show.
STAGED ONLINE TICKET SALES:
This year the Delaware State Fair will stage the Online ticket sales with both Demolition Derbies and Monster Truck show going on sale on May 14th at 10:00 am.
May 15th at 10:00 am will feature tickets for all Country Acts (Carrie Underwood, Trace Adkins, Martina McBride and an artist to be name later)
May 16th at 10:00 am will feature tickets for the Rock and Hawk Shows. (3 Doors Down with Hinder & Staind, Daughtry and Tony Hawk's Boom Boom HuckJam shows).
