DELAWARE STATE FAIR OFFICIALS ANNOUNCE 2006 FAIR THEME

When daydreaming about the Delaware State Fair, one may think of the hundreds of blue ribbons adorning the thousands of exhibits on display. From vegetables grown with care to hand-crafted quilts to quality livestock, you’ll find a blue ribbon on almost every corner of the fairgrounds during those much anticipated summer days. Ahhh…summer days…sunshine, clear blue skies, and warm temperatures—temperatures that may invoke your thirst for an old fashioned root beer, Pepsi, hand-dipped milkshake, or fresh-squeezed lemonade. Sit back, take a sip, remove your cowboy hat, wipe your brow, and enjoy the music emanating from the Grandstand stage. Don’t you just feel like you’re right there? You will be come next July, and those images helped Fair staff conjure up the 2006 theme of “Blue Ribbon Days and Hot Country Nights”.

According to the fair’s public relations and marketing director, Tricia Southard, “The theme not only represents the hard work that goes into the many exhibits displayed at the fair but also the fun and excitement that fills the evening air during the best ten days of summer. Kick up your heels and have some good ole’ fashion fun with us!”

Southard offered the dates for the 2006 event are scheduled for July 20 – 29 and noted fair officials announce the theme and dates in the fall primarily so exhibitors may begin to prepare their entries. Southard also mentioned that the announcement serves as a reminder to those who plan their vacations around fair time.
