SCHOOLS, STUDENTS ENCOURAGED TO SUPPORT WEBSITE CONTEST ~ Final Website Design to be Utilized by Local Non-profit

InterNetworking Technologies, Inc., in cooperation with Delaware State Fair, Inc., recently announced plans for the 2006 Computer Web Design Contest. The contest is a two-phase competition specifically designed for school-aged children. The contest is broken into three categories for children ages six to nine, 10 to 13, and 14 to 17. Competing students will vie for cash prizes and ultimately a new personal computer.
During the first phase, contestants will design a website for their own purpose to be judged in early May. The first, second and third place winners, within each age group, will receive a cash prize, a Delaware State Fair ribbon, and an invitation to participate in Phase II.
In Phase II, students will be competing for the grand prize—a brand new IBM personal computer (a $700 value). Internetworking Technologies, Inc. will award the grand prize during the 2006 Delaware State Fair in July. Phase II contestants will construct a website for First State Resource Conservation and Development Council, Inc. (RC&D) to utilize on the Internet. First State RC&D is a not-for-profit organization which assists individuals, groups, and communities develop and enhance their human and natural resources. The Council's Emergency Home Repair Project helps very low income homeowners eliminate unsafe or unhealthy conditions in their homes.
Christine Stillson, First State RC&D’s housing programs director, stated, “We’re very excited with the idea of students designing a website for us that will inevitably enhance our project’s ability to serve Delaware’s most needy residents. The students can be assured that their hard work and creativity in designing the website will help make a difference in people’s lives.”
According to Allan Frazier, marketing director for InterNetworking Technologies, Inc., “In today’s marketplace, information technology skills and web design talents are being sought after. By supporting this contest, we’re looking to recognize students that could become our employees or business partners.”
The fair’s marketing and publicity director, Tricia Southard, added, “Our partnership with InterNetworking Technologies, Inc. was a perfect fit. Each year, we examine the popularity of our current contests and exhibit classes while examining trends in the market. We’re finding school-age children are more versed in computer skills than ever before. This contest allows children with specialized technological skills to participate at the fair. We’re thankful for InterNetworking Technologies, Inc.’s generosity of offering a free computer to the grand prize winner.” Southard added, “School involvement is encouraged as the individual school whose students submit the most entries for judging will receive an official Delaware State Fair blue ribbon along with a cash prize.”
