DEADLINE APPROACHING FOR DELAWARE STATE FAIR ENTRIES; ONLINE SYSTEM OFFERING SLIGHTLY HIGHER FIGURES

Delaware State Fair officials recently announced their new Internet-based entry system seems to be a success as the number of overall entries is on-par, if not slightly higher, this year. According to Jill Baylis, manager of the Fair’s premiums department, the Fair has received 15,827 entries from 1,399 exhibitors to date. Baylis added, “We’re pleased by the turnout. We have been accepting various online entries since April 3, and we’re comparing overall exhibitor and entry numbers to last year. It seems as though this year’s numbers are slightly higher. Normally, we have an influx of last-minute entries, so we’ll be able to tell, once we reach the June 15 deadline, just how many exhibits will be in this year’s Fair.”

Fair officials stated the reason for moving to the Internet with entries is certainly not to exclude anyone from entering the Fair but rather to create a more efficient process. According to Tricia Southard, public relations and marketing director of the Fair, “We want to make sure anyone who wants to display his/her works is able to do so. Many may have access to a computer at home, or at a family member’s home, at their work, or at a public library; however, anyone who does not have easy access to a computer is invited to contact the Fair’s main office, and our staff will gladly guide him/her through the process.”

All exhibitors to the Delaware State Fair are urged to submit their entries before the general deadline date of June 15, 2006. All entries may be submitted by visiting the Fair’s website at www.delawarestatefair.com and choosing “Forms”, “Exhibits”.
