2002 All-Star Youth Winners

Ben Antonik - Lincoln, DE
All-Star Youth of the Day: July 21, 2002
Ben, 17, cleaned up the Union Cemetery in Milford as part of his Eagle Scout project, then he arranged for a memorial monument to be placed under the flagpole. In organizing this clean up effort, Ben coordinated 40 people for a total of 341 man-hours. Ben's parents are Chris and Sheri Antonik.

Jennifer de Bernard - Wyoming, DE
All-Star Youth of the Day: July 22, 2002
Jennifer, 10, is a leukemia patient who is a shining example of perseverance. In spite of her illness, she continues to ride the horse she was provided by the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Jennifer showed her horse at this year's fair, and entered the fair's Pretty Animal contest with a "Wishes Do Come True" theme. Jennifer's parents are Lionel and Carollyn de Bernard.

Michelle Brittingham - Georgetown, DE
All-Star Youth of the Day: July 23, 2002
Michelle, 17, is a recipient of the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans Award, receiving a $10,000 scholarship. When her mother became ill, Michelle realized she would have to help support her younger brother and sister. She worked 40 hours a week in addition to continuing with high school. Michelle's parents are Darryl and Carol Hudson.

Scott Clower - Newark, DE
All-Star Youth of the Day: July 27, 2002
When Scott, 10, approached his parents for a $200 pair of roller blades, he was encouraged to raise the money himself. He started his own business selling cut flowers. In a short time, he was able to purchase his roller blades. The experience taught Scott an important lesson in business and money management. Scott's parents are Dennis and Theresa Clower.

John C. Cordrey - Georgetown, DE
All-Star Youth of the Day: July 25, 2002
John, 17, is one of two Delaware representatives to the 40th Annual Senate Youth Scholarship Program. He is the student council president at Sussex Central High School, president of the honor society and participated in Delaware's Boys State. John's parents are Carol and John H. Cordrey.

Hannah Dewey - Delmar, DE
All-Star Youth of the Day: July 20, 2002
Hannah, 17, lives up to her own adage, "Don't let your disability hold you back. You can still do it." Though learning disabled, Hannah excels as a cheerleader, nursing home volunteer and peer leader. She is one of 35 national "Yes I Can!" winners and the second Delawarean ever to win the award. Hannah's mom is Michelle Miller.

Kaitlyn Garland - Felton, DE
All-Star Youth of the Day: July 26, 2002
Kaitlyn, 16, attends Lake Forest High School and is consistently on the honor roll. She is an outstanding and compassionate volunteer. Katelyn has helped serve holiday meals for the blind, donated her hair to Locks of Love, and has been a counselor for children with multiple disabilities. Katelyn's mother is Cheryl Garland.

Jordan Hitchens - Harrington, DE
All-Star Youth of the Day: July 18, 2002
Jordan, 17, is a Senior at Lake Forest High School, and is enrolled in the National Honor Society. She takes University of Delaware classes, and captained her field hockey team to the 2002 Southern Division Championship. Although Jordan has won many awards, tutoring young children and helping them to succeed has been her greatest reward. Jordan's parents are Rhonda and Kim Hitchens.

Chase Harmon - Rehoboth Beach, DE
All-Star Youth of the Day: July 19, 2002
While in first grade, Chase, now 11, and two classmates started their own business. At age 11, he gave a 20 minute speech to 200 people at the Junior Entrepreneurs in Training Conference. The motivated Chase fills his remaining time as a DJ, web designer and tutor. Chase's parents are Cathy and Darren Harmon.

Stefanie Ralph - Felton, DE
All-Star Youth of the Day: July 24, 2002
Stefanie's, 17, accomplishments are many: She is a member of the National Honor Society, president of her senior class, volunteer reader for the Read-A-Loud Program, was awarded the Governor's Youth Volunteer Service Award, and is a recipient of the Loretta Ianna Leadership Award. Wow! Stefanie's parents are Gail and Jim Ralph.
