All Star Youth
The Fair's All-Star Youth program was created as a way to showcase outstanding Delaware youth, one for each day of the annual Fair. The people we select must be age 20 or younger as of July 1 of the current year, and must be residents of Delaware.

Your nominee should display outstanding courage, commitment and/or achievement. Please send nominations through the U.S. mail only. Nominations will not be accepted through Email. Nominations may be made for those age 20 or younger as of July 1 of the year in which they are nominated. Nominations will not be accepted after May 15, 2009.
We are truly proud of these young Delawareans for the content of their character as much as for their accomplishments. Each one represents the very best of Delaware youth.

Jordan Bark
All Star Youth of the Day: July 23, 2009
Seventeen year old Smyrna High School student, Jordan Bark, is a very active young woman. Starting at a young age, she became active in her community through volunteer service. Jordan is now participating in pageants and volunteering her time to drama students at Smyrna High School.
A lover of the arts, Jordan began dancing at the age of six, attended Cab Calloway School of the Arts, and would one day like to appear on Broadway. Now at Smyrna High School, Jordan maintains a 4.0 GPA while being very active in her school's organizations.
Jordan has maintained her healthy and active lifestyle while being diagnosed with both asthma and Type I diabetes.

Conor McCoy
All Star Youth of the Day: July 24, 2009
Mount Pleasant High School sophomore, Conor McCoy exemplifies his All-Star spirit through scholastic achievement and volunteer service. A member of the Fox Point 4-H Club, Conor has exhibited many blue ribbon entries at the Delaware State Fair.
Conor has also donated his time to the Ronald McDonald House, Faithful Friends Animal Shelter, and the Claymont Community Food Closet.
Ranked in the top 3% of his class, Conor is active in the school band and tennis team. After graduation, Conor wishes to go to college and major in Engineering.

Ethan Williams
All Star Youth of the Day: July 25, 2009
Ethan Williams is a 2nd grader at Allen Frear Elementary School and a member of the Gifted and Talented Program. He loves to do math, read, and write stories. In December 2008, Ethan was diagnosed with a brain stem tumor.
Ethan is a very happy 7 year old boy who loves to play baseball. He is a big Phillies fan and was ecstatic when they won the World Series in 2008. Ethan completed radiation in January 2009 and is currently undergoing chemotherapy.
Ethan is definitely as All-Star as he displays his brave spirit and a positive attitude that inspires others.

Samantha Wagamon
All Star Youth of the Day: July 27, 2009
An eighth grader at Milford Middle School, Samantha Wagamon is a positive young woman who is always wearing a smile despite being diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at 1 month, liver disease at 8 years, and diabetes within the last two months.
Although it can be painful for her to get out of bed in the morning, Samantha still makes her way to school each day as she derives great joy from participating in the school chorus, drama club, and cheerleading.
Samantha's kindness and optimism makes her of our 2009 All Star Youth.

Gabrielle Virdin
All Star Youth of the Day: July 28, 2009
Desiring a healthier lifestyle, at age 11 Gabrielle set her mind to achieving that goal. In July 2008, Gabrielle achieved her goal of losing weight and has maintained it ever since.
Keeping up with her active lifestyle, Gabrielle is a Pop Warner cheerleader, New Horizons 4-H member, and shows Boer goats at the Delaware State Fair.
Gabrielle is also an excellent student. She maintains a GPA of 94.4 and receives high honors. For the 2008-2009 season, Gabrielle was chosen as a Pop Warner All American Scholar, an honor achieved by only 2% of the 410,000 children participating in Pop Warner across the country.

Danielle Swilley
All Star Youth of the Day: July 29, 2009
Danielle Swilley is an honor roll student at Lake Forest Central Elementary where she also plays the flute in the school band.
As a Young Marine, Danielle has served her community by boxing books at Felton Town Hall to send to our troops and with a fellow Young Marine, organized a school dance to gather nearly 400 pounds of food and $1,200 for the food pantry in Harrington.
Danielle is an avid softball player for the Felton/Harrington Little League. She has been a Girl Scout for five years and has earned the Bronze Award, the highest award a Junior Girl Scout can achieve.

Anthony Merlo
All Star Youth of the Day: July 30, 2009
After high school, Anthony wishes to attend Delaware State University and play football.

DeAndre Davis
All Star Youth of the Day: July 31, 2009
DeAndre Davis is thirteen years old and will be attending St Marks High School this fall. While in middle school, DeAndre earned high honor roll each marking period. DeAndre maintained his grades while participating in football and basketball, participating in the the Junior National Honor Society, and serving as secretary for his school's Student Government Association.

Jordan Beard
All Star Youth of the Day: August 1, 2009
Jordan is a sophomore at Wilmington Friends School and is very active in her community. Jordan has completed over 200 hours of community service at the Kent County Community School where she works was an aide to developmentally challenged children.
At school, Jordan became the founder of the Best Buddies Organization earlier this year. Jordan also plays volleyball and sings in the school's choir.
Jordan has participated in the Walk for MS and has raised money for breast cancer efforts by selling lemonade and cookies.
