Sensory Friendly Afternoon at the Delaware State Fair Carnival Cancellation Harrington, DE, July 22, 2024 –

The Delaware State Fair announces the cancellation of the planned Sensory Friendly Carnival program, which was scheduled for July 23, 2024. “I would like to apologize to families planning to visit the Delaware State Fair to experience a carnival where the lights and sounds would be turned down or off. Full refunds will be issued if your family planned to join us on Tuesday from 1pm-5pm,” stated General Manager Danny Aguilar. “We have a tremendous amount of work to do to better understand the needs of families with children with sensory needs. Additionally, we apologize for the misstatement that Autism Delaware was partnering on this event. The Fair was merely attempting to follow a model that has been used by other fairs in other communities throughout the U.S.” Aguilar continued, “Once again, we understand that the Delaware State Fair has a lot of loud sounds and bright lights, and we will continue to work hard to better understand the needs of our communities as we consider future programming.”
